Free for the Last Time: Selected Kindle Short Stories on Sept. 29-30, 2013

I am pulling all of my Kindle books and short stories from the Kindle Select Program as they expire at the end of this month or shortly thereafter, which means that none of my books will be available for promotional free downloads and will no longer be available for free download to Amazon Prime members.

The restrictions on distribution of the books through other channels and on posting samples online was simply not worth the additional sales for me. I do not anticipate re listing any of the books or short stories in the future through the program at this point, which means that these will only be available at their regular price through Amazon for the Kindle (and in paperback versions where available). However,  I am making a number of my short stories available for the last time for my readers over the next two days (September 29 and 30 only) as a parting gift to readers old and new. For a current listing, see my Amazon Author’s Page for a current book list here and search for the free titles on the two pages of books here: http://www.amazon.com/Victor-D.-L%C3%B3pez/e/B001KMII74.

Thank you for your continued interest in my books and short stories and for your kind comments and reviews at Amazon, Publishedauthors.org,, Goodreads, Microcerpt, Librarything, Jungleage,, on my various blogs and elsewhere.

  1. Best wishes! I can’t imagine how much you would be losing by giving them away free. If you ever want to promote them or yourself as an author, I would be happy to host you on my book blog, Stephanie’s Book Shelf. (stephaniesbookshelf.blogspot.com)

    • Thanks, Stephanie. My Kindle (and paperback) books and short story singles do not seem to be in your area of interest based on the information in your blog as they are a mixture of nonfiction, poetry and speculative fiction/science fiction. My short story collection fits best under the ‘soft” SF genre as I am far more interested in inner space, the interplay between the conscious and subconscious mind, the nature of reality and the dichotomy represented by the human heart and soul than I am with rocket ships, weird aliens or horror–especially of the slasher variety which I frankly detest.

I am foremost an academic who writes “serious” books and articles and publishes them through traditional publishers and refereed journals or law reviews, but fiction and poetry are extremely important to me and have been throughout my adolescence through the present and any foreseeable future. I am a die hard romantic idealist living in the real world, which is always grist for the writer’s mill, and I think that all of my writing reflects that fact, with my short stories grounded in the tension between the real and the ideal, with my feet planted on the muddy earth and arms stretched out to the sky as the constant tension between the sacred and the profane play themselves out.
